HeroesCon
I went to my first Con this past weekend! It was HeroesCon 2014 in Charlotte, NC. I’d never been to a Con before and had no idea what to expect.
From watching television shows (should have known to never trust TV!), I thought the place would be full of Cosplayers letting loose their inner nerds, but that wasn’t the case at all. It was actually rather tame.
Sure, there were some folks dressed up as comic book characters (and they were always surrounded by a crowd wanting to have their pictures taken with them), but mostly it was just normal looking people wandering around looking for something to buy.
In my case, I wanted something for my office. There was some art featuring Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer, which I would have loved (and my wife would have hated), but I ended up buying this print from independent writer Ben Chaney, author of Sons of Sedonia. I love the the colors and the energy as well as the dichotomy of loneliness amidst the clamor of a crowd.
